Hello, friend in Christ!

Thanks for stopping by my website. I am the daughter of a Protestant preacher. That’s right. I’m a P.K. (Preacher’s Kid). No, I didn’t fit the stereotype. I wasn’t wild and crazy. I also wasn’t a goody-two-shoes either! In fact, at one point, I was a divorced, single mother-of-three. And my first husband was also a Protestant pastor.

Complicated, isn’t it!

But grace finds all of us – if we are willing to be found. Eventually, I remarried (first marriage annulled), and my new husband and I had a baby. My father passed away, and I inherited his library. I began reading his books – hoping to find anything I could to help me through the season of grief. Well, in the stack of books, I found Confessions by St. Augustine.

That was the beginning of my conversion to the Catholic Church. Grace wasn’t done with me yet. Within 18 months of my father’s death, I entered the Catholic Church. Before RCIA ended (that class adults take to enter the Church), I was already writing a column for The St. Louis Review. That’s how I became a Catholic syndicated columnist. My column – Catholic by Grace – has been published in 57 diocesan newspapers.

But God had even more planned for me. I have written for Catholic magazines and appeared on EWTN’s Journey Home and Women of Grace. Ave Maria Press will release my first book in 2014!

I love to write (that graduate degree in English came in handy), and I also love to share my journey with others through speaking.

That joy has prompted others to join me in this Catholic Faith. A year after I converted, my youngest child followed me into the Church. Two years later, my husband came in. Pentecost Sunday 2013, another daughter (and three grandsons under the age of three) entered the Church!

My speaker topics include: conversion, the Immaculate Conception, the Visitation and Women of Salvation History. (Mary is my favorite topic!)

Please send me an email or give me a call. I would love to share the joy with your parish, conference, or retreat. Just click on the contact page or write me at

  2. Denise, I watched your conversion testimony on EWTN. Indeed, a long preserving story. I ask for your prayer for our daughter, mother of four children, and approaching a difficult divorce. Unfortunately, she has fallen away from our church. The grand children rarely attend mass. Thank you so much and blessings to you and your family. Sister in Christ………

Blessings upon you, Gloria, and your daughter. It is possible to find one’s way back to the Eucharist in the midst of divorce. Shower her with love and ask the Holy Spirit to help her see her Eucharistic Lord in the love she receives from you. He will give you the words and the works that guide her home. Peace of Christ!
